Story

Located at The Barnyard in Carmel-By-The-Sea since 1995, Lugano Swiss Bistro has focused on bringing fondue and other regional Swiss/German cuisine to the Monterey Bay. Founder, Chef Andre Lengacher, a native of Graubünden, named the restaurant after the city of Lugano in the Italian speaking canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland where his mother was originally from.

Today, Lugano Swiss Bistro continues to be locally owned and operated by Marco Chavelas, who helped open the restaurant back in 1995 and remained part of the crew for over ten years.
